Okay, okay. I went a little radio silent there. Between catching up on school after the Japan trip and just general craziness, I haven’t felt very compelled to blog. Ironically, it’s not due to a lack of content–I have so much I don’t even know where to begin.
Well, we’ll start small.

I finished up my first _Dropfleet_ force! My purple and red scheme came together pretty nicely by the end and I’m content with the overall look of the fleet.

I have enough ships now that it was hard to fit them all into one photo. You’ll also notice I 3D printed and painted up bases. These are the same size but a little more stable than the flat clear plastic bases the ships normally come with. As for colors… I accidentally made life preservers. It works, I guess. Stands out on the table!

One important piece in making these pop was painting a lot of the little “lights” all over the ships. That’s all of those dots. I’m not actually sure what they are, but they make for an easy way to bring detail and clarity to the design.

These made for a very satisfying project. I now have around 1500 points and can build a few different lists around two major ideas. For a game I play once a month, I’m content with this. I also got another game in, my second, and really enjoyed it. Again, I can’t say it’s the most competitively balanced game, but mechanically it was fun. The newest update to fighters and bombers made them more useful but also reduced their presence on the board, which greatly improved my opinion of the game.

I look forward to more games this year. It’s been a nice change of pace in my stable of gaming.
Okay, there. Broke my barrier! Back into the world of blogging. Now to work on that backlog…
