I’ve been chipping away at an impressive pile of scatter terrain over the last week. I’ve got more chairs and beds than I think I originally intended, let alone a whole helping of screens. These are intended for Scrapjacks to start out, but I figure they’ll work to add color to any scifi boards I put together in the future. Few and far between are the settings where the odd office chair doesn’t show up.

My focus here was on time efficiency. This is all background pieces for a set of games I don’t play often–I’m not aiming for the best quality, but rather a vibe that feels dirty and cohesive with the space ship tiles I did last week. To help achieve this, I kept color choice minimal and efficient. I washed everything a murky black, to make it feel dirty. The end effect feels somewhat drab, dirty, dark.

Which fits when we’re talking about space salvage. I’m happy with the end product, though I somewhat lament painting the screens. In retrospect, I’m not sure how they’re still drawing power or plotting graphs.

It all comes together well regardless.

I love the density and hope it doesn’t hinder anything in Scrapjacks. Some game systems fair worse in dense terrain. If it does cause problems, I know it will work well in other games, like Infinity or DPS, so these will always find a home somewhere.

Not featured in the above images is a pile of additional beds, chairs, and tables I’ve finished. Beyond those, I still have a whole heaping more to work on. I’m hoping to wrap these up this week and move onto painting my next scifi force or painting one of the five terrain sets I have still waiting on me to swing back around. Maybe I’ll do the elven city, or perhaps the scifi outpost. The cyberpunk city? The dwarven village? The…

Okay. You get the idea.
