With my upcoming demo at work, I decided to make a few things specifically for the demo. It’s not much, but it’s the first hobbying I’ve done in over a month and it was fun to tackle such a small, focused project.

Starting with the big one: a simple ruined ship, stranded on land. I found this sitting in my pile of files to print and decided to give it a go. Nothing fancy: just a simple bit of tape, time with an airbrush, and then a bunch of washes spread liberally.

Next up: a single car, just to get one done. I’ve had several broken apart and primed, waiting for paint for the better part of a year now. This is a Mitsubishi Pajero–a fun little jeep that’s almost surprisingly small in real life. I’m not the type to care about cars, but I want one. Now I have one–complete with a gatling gun.

I put together two billboards based on our company. One is a pretty clean rip off the banner from the company LinkedIn. The other is a more in-universe sign, slightly damaged and peeling. I figure my coworkers will get a kick out of it.

Two round trackers. I find when playing Gaslands it gets easy to forget what round you’re in, especially with multiple cars activating. I printed two as I might run two games simultaneously. It’s a small detail but anything that helps players get “into it” really matters when running a big demo like this.

To that end, I made all-in-one cards for each of the available cars and produced a set of trophies for the winners. I’m honestly unsure what participation will look like, especially given how silly the game is in theme, but I figure a bit of chrome always helps and will hopefully attract more attention to future game days.
The nice bonus here is that I finally caught the bug again. While wrapping this project, I prepared my Zona Alfa boys for priming. After a month of being off track, it feels good to get back on the hobby train again. Never underestimate the power of a small project. Sometimes you just need to reengage.
