My joint project with the kiddo to paint up ratmen and lizardmen armies continues. He wrapped up a unit of mounted warriors with these two models, as well as a unit of lizardmen warriors and geckos. I put out another unit of ratmen warriors (giving me 30 total warriors or 2-3 units) and a unit of Storm Ogres.

I really enjoyed the Storm Ogres! They were very characterful sculpts and came together well. Still a touch busy for my tastes but I was very happy when they were completed.

I picked a simple paint scheme to make them stand out among the army. These guys will be raining death on my son’s lizardmen.

They took a good while to paint–probably about 1.5-2 hours per model. Every time I turned around I discovered more trim or small details. It was worth it, I suppose, and we got through a season of One Punch Man in the process so I enjoyed it well enough.

The ratmen warriors are likely my last unit of warriors to finish up. I’m thankful to put them to bed. Thirty of anything is a lot and these were no exception.

I believe with these we both hit around 1,200 points for our next game of OPR Fantasy. I’ll be happy to continue trying it out with the kiddo at higher and higher points values. I’m hoping it alleviates some of my lethality concerns when we… just have a lot more stuff on the board to kill in the first place. We’ll see. For now, he’s pleased to see his little army growing and he’s got the bug for sure, which is great! I’m more proud of his reading, or the strides he’s made in school, or of his taekwondo… but I’m still proud of the minis! He’s actually managed to stick to this project and at the end of it I think he’ll be more happy than he realizes to have a fully painted fantasy force.

…Then he’ll ask me for the space elves he wants. I apologize to his future wife.
