I’ve been slowly working on these across a very busy December, so they basically constitute the bulk of my output this month. Some months you produce a lot, some… ah, well. For a final 2025 project, these came out pretty respectable.

These are, of course, for A Clash of Rhyfles for my weird little anteater people. The models come from the official MyMiniFactory for Josh Qualtieri, the gentleman who heads up all of this Quar nonsense. They were very fun models to paint up with different colors and I really wanted to make them stand out a bit more, so I printed off some additional fences and other bits to help make them feel a little more alive.

They’re based on some flimsy MDF I’m worried will warp–in fact, I already see signs of it, so these might not last. That’s unfortunate, because I think they came out pretty good. I’ll be looking into fixing the warping and see if anyone out there has solved a reasonable trick. I have thoughts.

The theme here was to make a patch of land where these little buggers live out their normal lives. Quar avoid involving civilians but I figure that does not mean you’ll never fight across farmsteads. Here, we see jojub bushes ready for cultivation and termite mounds for the hungry Quar able to spare a moment to slurp them up.

I went for color, contrasted by fairly normal fences. This was inspired by the artwork across Quar related publications. The fences and stonework always struck me as being so normal, even when the houses weren’t.

It was slow going but I’m glad I did it. These will come together on a 2×2′ board to make a very thematic slice of Alwyd. I’m happy with the project and if it’s truly my last for 2025, I think it’s a high note.

  1. Genuinely impressed by the village of the <s> smurfs</s> Quar. The colors here turned out beautifully.
