Hot on the heels of my last reinforced squad for A Clash of Rhyfles, here is my Gloam Hyyn. These quar make up a reasonable representation of the core squad from the unit listings book, plus a few additional options.

Gloamers come from the swamps of Coftyr. They’re semi-autonomous but ultimately serve the Royalist cause. In a sense, they’re the swamp-bumkins of the setting, eying their is-Caerten (a leader) as if he were some city-slicker.

Gloamers make for an interesting force for a reason that should be pretty obvious from the first photo: the sarf-cyns. They bring these creatures to the battlefield to release them onto their enemies, which gives you as a player two cheap melee units that barrel across the field and apply pressure.

They’re controlled by their respective trackers, who wear fish pelts to hide themselves as they track along the waters of the swamp.

The squad also carries an LMG and a fair number of Rhyflers, giving you a practical backbone as you approach the field of battle.

And then, of course, we have the Squeedle. This lovely, stupid tractor is one of my absolute favorites.

Finally, we have the various special profiles, like the musician and the buccaneer.

This marks my final squad of quar for now. It’s enough to get me going with demos and options for gameplay. As we hit the holidays, the odds of me seeing real quar time on tabletop shrink while family obligations and end-of-year workload grow. I still have a bit of terrain to bang out, so hopefully I’ll manage that before the year closes.

For now, I can say this was probably my favorite project of the year. Just like with the Tollyn Maeryn, this was just the right amount of detail in a relatively bite sized project that was easy to bang out. I loved it, and if this quar escapade closes out my hobby year, I think it’s a darn good ending.
