Kinda.
I have a lot more to do for this board. It needs scatter, more buildings–a ton of stuff. I’ve only finished the townhomes for now, which was a ton of work.

I used Apple Barrel craft paints and… regret it. Their coverage was so poor I went overboard with shading to compensate, so my overall effect is a very dirty Venice. Thankfully, that works out for Carnevale’s theming.

I’ll be excited to see how these come together. You can readily jump roof to roof and hop off balconies to attack opponents, so hopefully I have the start of a great playground here. I’ll need to think a bit more on how to make this work for other settings, but there’s potential here.

As I look over the photos I do like how colorful it all is. I actually feel a bit more inspired again. This is a project I beat my head against for multiple days just to get it to look half decent… so I’m relieved that I look back and actually feel pretty good about the result. I even feel that slight twinge of desire to go back and do more for it.

There’s considerable potential here. I just need to invest a bit more into bringing it to life with scatter, boats for the waterways, and anything else I can think of to bring the city to life.

Of the three board I completed during my brief vacation I invested the most time into this one and like it the least. We’ll see if I can recover. I’ll say that I regret not just grabbing the official MDF kits for the game. They’re great, look beautiful, and are easier to paint. I’d have spent a bit more yet that likely would have been worth the pain saved. This is a rare case where 3D printing was probably the wrong answer.
Ah well. Live and learn. Make your decisions right. I’ll get back to this eventually and make it right. For now, ciao Venice.
