I managed to finish up my starter box for Rumbleslam and even get two games in this past weekend.
I’ll have thoughts on the quality of the models down the line. I spent a good amount of time building Rumbleslam and Carnevale miniatures–I have thoughts. They’re mixed. But again, another time.

Painting the cats proved challenging. Lots of yellow and orange, which I tend to struggle with.

Also had to paint the Cosmic Cat, which involved some glazing in an effort to create a swirling cloud of smoke. He’s a slippery fella who can move himself and others around.

He proved useful in the matches I managed to play. I learned that he’s not a bruiser, despite an excellent stat line. He’s better off using his abilities to cut actions off the enemy and move everyone around.
In fact, mobility proved to be the key theme of the team in general.

Between the Thief (black cat) being able to teleport around, the Cosmic Cat doing… the same, and the magic carpet being able to actually cart other figures around, I found myself staring at a LOT of options at more or less all times.

My initial impressions of the game were quite positive. On balance, it was a blast to play and really had me thinking. Balance may be a question, but as a small investment it felt worthwhile. I greatly look forward to my next matches.
It’s funny–I expected to be shouting about body slams and insulting my opponent. Instead, I found myself in deep thought as I tried to put together the puzzle offered by every turn.
Really, really liked it. I hope Carnevale lives up to this as well.
It’ll justify the nuisance of building resin…
