My “terrain” for Rumbleslam happened to arrive first. This is the Superstar Ring from TTCombat alongside the pieces for the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs expansion. There isn’t a lot to report, honestly, but it was a fun little project.

The TLC expansion adds a few game modes (scenarios?) and some terrain pieces you can throw around.

These were all done with Speedpaint after a Drybrush of white over black. I enjoy the way the texture of the dry brush shows through. The statue in particular was done with Runic Grey Speedpaint, which despite barely doing anything is somehow the best stone effect I’ve found.

As for the ring, I decided early I wanted it to be purple to be distinct from any other rings. This posed a challenge as white and yellow tend to be good purple accents and both suck to paint.

I minimized the issue by using primer. I separated out all the pieces off sprue and primed them their primary colors where possible. The purple pieces I primed grey and then hit with purple via airbrush.

I then went about painting in the details: lines, edges, etc. The only thing I might add is some form of logo, but I’m honestly unsure what logo I’d want on there at this juncture.

The last “trick” to this was the stars. They’re hollowed out, which doesn’t look great as there is no backing for them. To get around this, I recommend cutting up some yellow paper (sticky notes?) and gluing them behind the stars, like so:

Again, fun project. It was a nice warm up for the team I’ll hopefully receive later this week. But for now, here’s my squared circle. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

  1. The ring looks great- the bits of scatter too.

    Cheers,

    Pete.
