Had the pleasure of getting in another Silver Bayonet campaign day this past weekend. We had three boards and six players show up. It’s proving difficult to get all 10 players into one place at a time, so quite a few people are coasting on the free experience gain. We should be able to maintain 3-4 tables for each meetup, though, which is pretty good!
No new boards this time, but I was happy to put down my stylized Germanic city stuff. I think it looks great and really fits the semi-historical vibe of the game. The matches themselves went well. I’ve continued with adapting the base game scenarios for each meetup and I plan to do the rest, then adapt the expansion scenarios.

One thing I’ll note is that the base scenarios have repetitive monster types. I intend to vary that up more in the future. I may make players draw monsters from my deck of monster cards—I can control the severity of the monsters drawn, so that would be a good way to vary things dramatically.

Either way, it was another successful day. I even got a match this time! It went quite well, with a bit of dramatic back and forth over the signet ring that needed to be removed from the board. Both sides lost three models, with some permanent injuries suffered as a result. I managed to “win,” gaining 90 overall experience (due to our severely accelerated experience gain).

I find myself really enjoying the game, but I miss the magic of Frostgrave. There, the shenanigans provided by wizards throwing spells really elevated the game. I like the 2D10 system more overall and I hope to see Frostgrave revisited and given an update to this system instead. I’ll likely offer up Frostgrave as a follow on to this campaign if players want it.

Time will tell—we’ll see where I’m at in September. For all I know I’ll be playing some strange game about Martians or something.
