A friend surprised me with a few more Imperials for my Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms force last week. His not so subtle way of saying he wanted to play again after months off.
The game is reasonably good, but fiddly with various cards and decks. I like the core combat mechanics, and I’d probably enjoy the game in something of a campaign setting, but the game is more painful to setup than it needs to be. If you think Star Wars Legion is fiddly, definitely avoid this unless you really want to play Elder Scrolls.
The miniatures are nice after cleanup. Good details, but the cleanup is considerable. They’re good final casts, but I’ve never seen resin with so much work needed before they’re ready. It’s strange and makes me dislike the build process.
I’ll post thoughts on the match and my shift in gaming tone later this week. No review coming–I’m not playing it enough and I believe without playing solo I haven’t truly experienced the game on its desired grounds. I enjoy the matches as a bit of variety in my gaming. They’re also a good chance to reach into my fantasy terrain collection I rarely ever use.
The miniatures I painted are the standard archers and sword and shield soldiers. I like the look of Imperials, and these minis take slapchop quite well. It was refreshing, as I often say about side projects. After these I need to paint Mcmurrough for Infinity and then straight back to the terrain mines.
