As a test case for getting into Infinity, I bought and painted a single miniature: Yara Haddad. She’s a named character in the game and she stood out to me due to her headdress. I’ve always loved painting the headwear of middle eastern themed miniatures—they’re fun and give an opportunity for a splash of differing color.

I wanted to paint my army with richer greens than the box art, rather than go with the muted tones generally used by Haqqislam. I thought it better to go with something more intense. Not sure I got it quite right here. In fact, I don’t think I got much of anything quite right on this first attempt, but I do think it was an interesting challenge and I look forward to working on more.
Test case success, I guess? I’ll be building a Haqqislam army to start out in Infinity. Perhaps that’s a post on its own—I really like the lore and I love the miniatures themselves. I also want to try and paint a good looking green army. My color choices are green, muted yellow secondary, and purple tertiary. The hardest part is getting the color balance right. I feel like if I make anything too intense it creates too much noise, but if I nail them just right it looks good.

I think the key will be the yellows—they need to read warm but muted. I’ve already started on my first batch of Ghulams and on first pass I made the yellow too intense, which made them painful to look at. We’ll see how I nail this down.
The basing also needs some work—I will airbrush the plants for future bases so that they look more natural. I think it’d be best to go with green core, yellow-to-red tips on the leaves.

Poor Yara. She’s a great sculpt and I probably shouldn’t have subjected her to being the test model for the force. Then again, every sculpt is great! Even my Ghulams (basic line troops) are expressive and unique.
We’ll see if I burnout on this level of detail. I intend to paint every miniature to a high standard, including painting eyes for the first time ever. Tough stuff, but it will be nice to wrap the year with a project that pushes me.
