My Warhammer 30k Ultramarine project continues humming along in the background. Hoping to fully wrap it this month so I can move back into some historicals or maybe splash briefly into updating my Stormcast Eternals. I’m enjoying the large, fantastical models and tanks, honestly.
So far this month I’ve finished 40 Space Marines, 10 Terminators, a Praetor, a Sicaran Venator, and 3 Rhinos.
I’ve painted them by airbrushing Vallejo Arctic Blue, then hitting them with gold, dark metal, light metal, and an oil wash. There’s some other stuff in there. I do a black oil wash. The only important paint is the Arctic Blue. In fact, it looks great without the oils, so I’m pretty sure I’m wasting some time here.
Here’s the blue:

It looks good with almost no effort! Seriously pleased.
I did finally get my Aurora Chapter markings. Each model generally has a splash of green and the Aurora Chapter marking somewhere in it in a non-dominant position. I figure Ultramarines don’t often change their color scheme during the Heresy and thus wouldn’t go too far with it. They’d emphasize the traditional blue and the Legion markings over their own customizations.
Maybe I’m wrong, but there’s barely anything out there on this chapter during the Heresy, so I’ll take it.
Anyway, a bunch of photos:
