My current project is an AWI British force for Sharp Practice. I’ve enjoyed the project thus far, but it’s been slow going. I started in late April and am finally near wrap up. After these boys, I have three artillery pieces and their respective teams left.

I love painting black powder, but always struggle to find motivation mid-way through the project. It’s always somehow a bit more than I expected.

Anyway, these Dragoons are the various 17th Light Dragoons sets from Perry Miniatures. All metal. All fantastic.

There’s one Warlord chap in there–the general. He comes in the Warlord artillery kits for the era, which are great. He stands out here for his relative simplicity versus the Perry minis, but also for his more characterful posing.

I tend to find Warlord makes better officers, Perry better everything else.

Here’s the boys all together now, ready to burn down an American church or stop for tea or some such:

Note: the mat here is for Check Your 6! which is why it has hexes. I didn’t feel up to digging out proper scenery for a quick set of shots.
