The classic issue for all gamers: too many games, too little time.

I stopped this past weekend and took stock of my collection. I tried to assess what I am actually playing and what I really intend to play. I’m fortunate enough that I can follow my whims and afford it, but… I don’t actually have the time or partners for all this!

After taking stock, here is a list of most of the games I have been toying with playing:

-Warhammer 40k (Orks – Incomplete, but purchased)

-Age of Sigmar (Skaven – 90% complete for over a year)

-Lord of the Rings (Many armies… All complete)

-Aeronautica Imperialis (Orks and Imperials complete)

-Blood Bowl (Orcs complete) and Blitz Bowl (ton of teams done)

-Necromunda (Escher starter gang complete)

-SAGA Vikings, Magic, Hannibal, and Crusades (At least one army each complete)

-Ravenfeast (Multiple forces done, thanks to SAGA)

-Longstreet (Incomplete, but two armies ready to paint)

-Infamy Infamy (Armies complete)

-Sharp Practice (28mm Union and Confederates complete)

-Chain of Command (Two German armies, one British complete. Another German army en route…)

-O’Group (Russian and German forces done)

-Stargrave (Many warband done already)

-Rangers of Shadow Deep (Base game ready, just need to paint some walls)

-Marvel Crisis Protocol (25ish figures complete)

I stress this isn’t EVERYTHING I have ready. I’m doing this off the top of my head and even now realize I forgot to list Sword and Spear.

Basically, I’ve overwhelmed myself. I haven’t even mentioned wanting to complete Commands and Colors Napoleonics, which I’ve started (Photo below for the sake of it).

So now the problem is… how do I number that down? I need to focus. I have three major gaming partners, so I’ll use that as my guide. With each, I have planned to play the following:

A Group: My weekly gaming partner for WW2

-O’Group: Campaign in the Summer time

-Chain of Command: we have chosen Operation Martlet for this Winter and Spring.

Group B: Occasional Gaming Partner

-Commands and Colors: we are three games in. Twelve to go.

-Longstreet: he has a Civil War interest, which I find hard to find elsewhere. Might be my only shot to actually play this game.

Group C: Lord of the Rings Group

-I like to lead large Lord of the Rings events for uptoten players. Also small tournaments. I will continue doing this per minimum, but I will likely be able toget a normal game or two in every month.

This leaves a ton of games on the cutting room floor. Some are small games I treat like board games (Blitz Bowl, Aeronautica, 1-48Tactic). Those I will definitely keep. SAGA I have an occasional partner for, so it is safe.

It’s my major Warhammer armies I’m considering parting with. We will see if I have the guts to purge. I am pretty sure it would be benificial to me. Either way, the above five games are what I’m aiming to focus on. We’ll see where this year takes me!
