We finally completed a no-support game of Chain of Command. I must say: it’s amazing. I highly recommend the game. It’s a bit slow, but man was it enjoyable.

The patrol phase once again proved very interesting. I managed to grab enough ground to be able to take advantage of the bocage on my right flank and the house on my left.

On the left flank I overwhelmed my opponent and destroyed a squad, a team, and a senior leader. This alone almost cost him the game. After all this damage, I successfully dropped him to one point of Morale. Unfortunately, this wasn’t as great as it seems, because on the right flank…

I got demolished. He ultimately wiped this squad and my senior leader, as well as one other section on the right flank. I landed at… you guessed it: one morale.

The game came down to a nail biter. The next Bad Thing to happen would end it. Lucky me… I still had my boys in the house. They were the MVP squad that killed an LMG team in the central mansion (window to window firing and some dumb luck) to win me the final point.

Once again, this game proved itself to me. I can’t see us going back to Bolt Action. It was tense and really went back and forth by design. It told a great story on both sides, and I thoroughly enjoyed our match.

Hopefully next time we will add some support rules and artillery strikes. Might actually make things move faster. My only complaint thus far is it takes us 4 hours to play, but we are admittedly slow players. It doesn’t detract much, though. This game is marvelous.
