Viking/Dunlend Board

I woke up last Saturday a man possessed. No, really.

I got up at 6 and couldn’t get back to sleep because I thought of a board I wanted to build. I had to do it.

Here’s the result:

The hill
Connected with glue and toothpicks
The start of a pond made by carving like an idiot instead of using a heat gun.
Many hours later, same day. I had built, plastered, painted, and flocked each piece. Here it sits with the glue drying.

Overall, this made for a fun Saturday. I even painted up a viking village I had 3D Printed to go with it! I didn’t get to play on this board yet, but I used a few of the buildings for a battle the next day. Here’s a few shots:

The match was excellent. Dunlend v Rohan. My Dunlend boys won, but only by sheer weight of numbers. My opponent’s Theodred killed my entire right flank almost singlehandedly, but I managed to overwhelm him from my left flank and win 8-7. Per usual for LOTR: it was a damn good match.

Next on the hobby bench: WW2. Photos to come.
